Best Time to Stay

From July through October and from January to February, the safari conditions are usually drier. Though the wetter periods result in more green scenery, rain can have an impact on the roads and on outdoor activities.

The weather can differ, so it cannot be guaranteed that you will have clear views of Kilimanjaro in any given month. Therefore, it is advisable to select your dates around the entire itinerary, especially if you are combining a visit to Amboseli with a trip to the Mara or the coast.

Nearby Attractions

The main nearby attraction is Amboseli National Park, since its plains and wetlands go with those of Kimana's woodland and marshes.

The area extends to include the Chyulu Hills and the conservation landscapes near Tsavo; any further visits will have to be separately arranged and should be in keeping with the time available.

Suggested Length of Stay

We suggest spending three nights on sanctuary visits, the Amboseli trip and at the lodge; two nights are adequate for shorter trips while four nights give more flexibility for optional activities.

Combining Angama Amboseli with Other Destinations

For wildlife scenery, combine the lodge with the Maasai Mara, or go to Ol Pejeta or Laikipia if you are interested in conservation, or choose Samburu if you prefer the northern landscapes.
