A two-day Masai Mara tour fits a tight schedule. You arrive, take an afternoon game drive, go out early the next morning, and leave after that drive. The amount of time you actually spend inside the reserve depends on when your flight lands and how far your camp is from the airstrip.

3-day package

A three-day trip gives you two nights and a full day in the middle with both morning and afternoon drives. You don’t have to see everything in one drive, and your guide can revisit places where animals were spotted before. This is our most popular option for a short Masai Mara trip.

4-day package

With four days, guides can explore more wildlife areas instead of staying near camp. You might also have time for a balloon flight if your camp offers it. The extra days mean you’re not relying on just one chance to see a migration crossing. Some conservancy camps also offer guided walks and night drives, depending on their rules.

Reserve and Conservancy Stays

Where you stay affects what you can do besides game drives. Camps inside the Masai Mara National Reserve let you explore during set hours, but night drives and walking safaris aren’t allowed there. Conservancy camps are on private land next to the reserve, and many offer both activities. Think about whether night drives and walking safaris are important for your trip.

If you stay in a conservancy, you usually don’t miss out on the reserve. Many conservancy camps arrange daytime visits to the reserve, depending on their location and your itinerary. It’s worth considering travel time between the two, and we help match your accommodation to the activities you want most.

Some travelers split their stay between a camp in the reserve and one in a conservancy. Others like to stay in one place to avoid moving between lodges.
